Future Events for WOA Bristol Channel Group Members
The Commodore of the Portishead Cruising Club, Rory O'Connor (an ex-WOA member), has invited us to attend one of his club's Wednesday evening socials. This will take place on April 14 starting at 8:30 pm. The club is based in Pill just a couple of miles from Junction 19 of the M5. Directions and a map can be found at the Portishead Cruising Club website. This will be an opportunity for WOA members in the Bristol area to meet together and learn about the benefits of club membership. As an example of their activities, 20+ boats from the club will sail to Gloucester over the Easter weekend.
Who to contact
Alan Elliott, who has a Pageant based in Portishead marina, has recently joined the organising team. He is keen to receive suggestions from the membership of the Bristol Channel group regarding the type of events that they would like to participate in during 2010. If you have any suggestions please send them to him at the link given above.
Report on Recent Events
Twenty seven members of Bristol Channel Group met for lunch at the Cardiff Bay Yacht Club on 22nd February 2008. Normally based as far afield as Milford Haven and The River Axe at Weston-Super-Mare, the group enjoyed a good roast lunch and the excellent company of fellow members of WOA. Nick Koops also welcomed the Commodore, Brian Easteal, and his wife Denise. After lunch the group resolved to organise a summer rally on the South Wales coast, and to meet again for lunch late in the year.
