May Weekend at Carlingford
Our May weekend brought fresh S/E breezes and rough seas but this did not prevent our Westerly style social enjoyment of the event.
The conditions prevented many boats from sailing to Carlingford. The Westerly's which braved the elements were Zebek, Scarth, Seascapes and Pucabán. We enjoyed our ”pontoon party” aboard Pucabán after which we were joined for dinner by the crews of Fougere, Mary B, Amelia Ann, and Cualain. The Village Hotel did us proud and the evening went with in high good humour which was enjoyed by all.
The Celtic Merit Award went to Seascapes in recognition of her and her crew coping so well on the arduous passage.
Sunday was passed in boat-to-boat socialising and chat, and in the evening we visited Carlingford Sailing Club for drinks and dinner served by the ladies of the Club and as usual first rate.
A pleasant walk and talk back to the Marina wound up the the evening and the morning dawned windy as ever. Boats returned to home ports during the following days as conditions allowed.
Our next outing is to Peel on the first weekend in June and notice of this event will be issued soon.
