AGM 2011

The 2011 AGM was held on 12th March at The Wheelhouse Restaurant, Millennium Wheel Drive, Falkirk.

Twenty members and crew attended despite severe weather with snow and difficult driving conditions. It was good to see representation from both east and west coasts, with some first time attendees.

A presentation of the Navigators and General Trophy for the best digital photograph including all or part of a Westerly was made to Ken Dougall (Pemva) since he had been unable to attend the Poole AGM - see photo.

Following the meeting past Chairman Ian Buchanan gave an interesting and informative presentation on ‘An Introduction to Ocean Sailing’ based on his trip from Scotland round the Faeroes and back in his Oceanranger Clar Innis. This included the preparation for the voyage and descriptions of modifications which were implemented after his experiences, with some thoughts on celestial navigation and watch systems.
