AGM and Laying Up Supper, 10 October, 2009

East Coast Group members enjoying Camilla and Sam’s talk on their Mediterranean trip.

The East Coast Group Laying up Supper was held in the Crouch Yacht Club at Burnham.

The evening commenced with a short AGM in the race box, chaired by Peter Wright and attended by 29 EC Group members. Peter reported on a successful season, presented the Group accounts and thanked Andy Clark, who was standing down from the committee, for his valuable contribution. The committee for 2010 was elected comprising:

Peter Wright, Rick Dines, Ken Parry and Winston Waller.

The AGM was over in 20 minutes and then 32 members and guests sat down to a three course dinner in the Club Room. After dinner Camilla Hermann & Sam Brown gave a presentation on their trip in a Westerly Storm across the Bay of Biscay, down to the Mediterranean and back home via the French canal system. The talk was comprehensive; it included details of their preparations, equipment failures, harbourmasters from hell, photos of the various ports visited and even reported on their son’s progress with his schoolwork during the trip! After the talk, Peter thanked the speakers and presented Camilla with a bunch of flowers.
