Shotley & River Stour – Joint Meeting 15 May
The ECG first sailing meet of the season was a joint effort with Shotley Point Yacht Club and the Countess Owners Association, ably organised by John and Jenny Wright.
The event began with a photo shoot on the River Stour near Wrabness, with a group of SPYC photographers on board Sian, a large catamaran. During the 3 hours available, 19 boats took part, most making several passes, and each will receive a CD of the shots taken. The weather was kind, with some sun and a reasonable breeze. Early evening saw the crews gathering for drinks and nibbles on the harbourside prior to a Chinese buffet supper in the “Shipwreck” restaurant. The final part of the evening included a a maritime quiz and a beetle drive, the results of which were slightly confused, but I think the WOA participants performed well. The day raised close to £190 for the RNLI – well done, SPYC.
We had 8 WOA boats present for some or all of the meet:
Deep Purple, Falcon, Goshawk of Mon, Hunters Moon, Mistral, Morgana, Optimist, and Ramoth.
