Dutch Wastewater Discharge Ban

From 1st January 2009 all vessels that come under the Recreational Craft Directive will no longer be allowed to discharge toilet water into Dutch surface water or within 12 miles of the shore. As a rule, it will apply to pleasure craft with a length of 2.5 to 24 metres, which are not older than 1950.  However this ban, on the discharge of toilet water from pleasure craft, is not the same as the obligation to have a waste water collection facility on board.  For more information the Regioteam Zuiver Zeeuws Water have published a pamphlet, “Don’t dump it, pump it!”.  This will obviously affect you if you are planning on visiting Holland in 2009.
