I have owned Konsort Duo KD14 for a few months and recently noticed the Auxilliary Battery indicator light flashing red when the engine was running. PANIC! People tell me this is a common fault and I should ignore it. I have spoken to Martyn Morris and seen his posts on this forum and read other notes about the system but feel I have a different problem and would welcome any advice. Since noticing the fault I have checked battery voltages and the situation is typically as follows:
Before Starting: Engine Battery 12.7v Auxilliary 12.4v
Engine Running: Engine Battery 14.4v(green) Auxilliary 11.8v or less (yellow or red) This is seen regardless of the load that may or may not be put on the battery (Instruments, lights etc.)
On stopping, the engine battery voltage gradually falls to 12.7 and the auxilliary rises to about 12.2v and shows red and green!
The voltages were measured across the battery terminals but the same voltages can be measured at the Split Charge Relay.
I have had no problem with auxilliary battery life during my few months of ownership before I noticed this, and none so far since. I have changed the auxilliary battery and am fairly sure it is not the cause of the problem.
Do I have a problem with the Split Charge Relay?
Any advice is welcome. Keith Bousfield - Watershed
